Please do not call in to the school on “snow” mornings to find out of the school is open.  We only have 1 person on phones.  It is rare that the school will be closed due to snow.

Parents must make individual decisions as to the appropriateness of sending their children to school during periods of inclement weather. Langley School District cannot be aware of circumstances in every neighbourhood or that may affect individual students when it makes its assessments of School Status. The district's objective on inclement days is to offer service to students who can safely get to school.

Snow closures and power outages are an annual occurrence in Langley School District. So where do you go to get information about the status of schools during periods of inclement weather? If you have power in your home and an Internet connection, current information about Langley schools can be accessed at www.sd35.bc.ca. Click on the “Emergency Closures” link in the sidebar menu. If you don’t have connectivity, but your phone is working, call a relative or friend in an area that has not been affected by the storm and ask them to check the district web site for you. Current information is also posted on the Langley School District’s Information Hotline at 604-532-1453. (Do not hang up if your call is not connected right away). Local radio stations are also informed of school status in Langley. Tune in to CKWX 1130 AM, CKNW 980 AM, Country Radio 107.1 FM or CBC 690 AM for updates. On October 18, Langley Secondary held World Food Day to bring awareness to the world food crisis and to child poverty. The community joined LSS students on this day and it was highly successful in raising awareness about these issues. Exhibitors from the community set up booths for students and the public and speakers were brought in to talk about the issues.

Langley Secondary was even mentioned in Ottawa!   See the clip below:
