LSS was a sea of pink on Feb 29.  So many of our students and staff showed their support of this important cause.  Our Anti Bullying Club organized a number of activities to raise awareness about bullying in preparation for Feb 29 Pink Shirt Day.  Students throughout the school engaged in an activity where they submitted “names” they had been called.  These were all compiled on a large banner hung for Feb 29 that also stated:

“160,000 kids have stayed home today because they are afraid to come to school.  We’ve all been there…why do we allow it?  Let’s work together for change.”

Statistics about bullying were written on pink posters all over the school and a Kids Help Line card was taped to every locker in the school. Thanks so much to the students involved and Ms. Stewart-Lee for helping to raise the awareness of bullying to the LSS community.

We are very excited about a new opportunity for LSS students - a pilot program in partnership with Kwantlen Polytechnic University that we have been working on for over a year.   This is a new Dual Credit Program, the first of its kind that is not trades-based.  This is an academic opportunity whereby eligible students can apply to take 2 courses (1 per semester)  in addition to their full course load at LSS.  They will receive high school credit as well as post secondary credit and the tuition is covered.   LSS and BSS are piloting this program in the coming year.

Please see the attached brochure for more details.

Please see the counsellors if you have any questions about the program.  The students must have their completed application package submitted by April 10.
